20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. will start a legal fight over the movie adaptation of Watchmen. Fox claimed that it owned the rights to Watchmen and wanted to block the release of the Warner Bros. movie.
Fox was awarded a small victory in court when District Judge Gary Allen Feess ruled that there was sufficient evidence to go to trial over the copyright claims.
On Tuesday, Sept 2, Judge Feess objected to Fox’s request to stop the March 6 release of Watchmen. Feess has fast-tracked the trial to give the two studios a chance to reach a settlement. Feess will then decide on other measures if the studios can not settle the matter themselves.
