Seacrest will get a little help with his hosting duties by several reality tv stars such as heidi klum, Howie Mandel, Jeff Probst, and Tom Bergeron. The live telecast of the Emmy’s will air from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre on Sunday, September 21 on CTV. We will update you here with the 2008 Emmy Award Winners!

Last year at 2007’s Primetime Emmy’s, the show didn’t get the ratings they wanted with host, Ryan Seacrest. Maybe this year with many starts lending a hand at hosting duties, will attract more viewers to the Emmy Awards show.

Heidi Klum is psyched to be on the Emmy’s this year. Heidi said, “I’m totally up for making fun of ourselves, doing goofy things,” Klum told The Associated Press. “I’m totally up for the game. Bring it on!”

“We’re gonna look like four maitre d’s following her around,” Tom Bergeron has joked.

Ryan Seacrest doesn’t seem bothered by the extra hosts this year. Ryan said, “The five of us know each other and have really good chemistry together. It will seem comfortable, natural and most of all fun,” Seacrest told The Associated Press.

The cool thing is that Ryan Seacrest and his fellow co-hosts are also all nominees for this years Emmy Awards.

The reality shows, say Emmy organizers, have clearly established itself as a popular, money-making part of 21st-century television. In fact, this year’s telecast features reality-made celebrity lauren conrad of “The Hills” as a presenter. Conrad and “Project Runway” winner Christian Siriano, another reality-made star, are also creating the gowns for the show’s “trophy girls.”

The 2008 Emmy telecast isn’t limiting its salutes to reality TV. To honour the heritage of the medium and its history the Nokia Theatre’s stage will feature sets from “Mash,” “The Simpsons,” “Desperate Housewives” and other seminal TV shows.

Presenters and Emmy categories are being pegged to scenes to play up the pop-culture connections between today’s TV hits and important shows from previous decades.

Oscar-winner Helen Mirren, Charlie Sheen, Kristin Chenoweth and Jeremy Piven will open Sunday night’s Emmy extravaganza by delivering popular TV catch phrases.

Finally, show producers have revealed that the cast of a popular TV show that split company more than a decade ago will also reunite on the stage. Makes you curious who that could be?

Posted by admin  » Posted on 09|21|08

Sex & The City author Candace Bushnell wants teen sensation Miley Cyrus to play the young Carrie Bradshaw if her prequel novels are turned into movies of TV shows.

Bushnell has just signed a deal to pen two teen novels about her character Bradshaw’s high school years and she’d love for Cyrus to take the lead in a TV or film spin-off.

When asked to name her new Carrie - a part sarah jessica parker has played on the big and small screen - Bushnell said, “I don’t know… What about Miley Cyrus?”

And it appears Cyrus is game - in a recent interview she said, “I’d love to do a younger, cleaner version of Sex & The City.”

DJ AM and Travis Barker expected to make full recovery

Posted by admin  » Posted on 09|21|08

DJ AM and musician Travis Barker survived the crash of a private plane late Friday night by jumping out of the aircraft as soon as it hit a nearby embankment on takeoff. The Learjet was on fire when they escaped and both were badly burned. They were the only survivors out of six people on the plane.

Yesterday the prognosis sounded poor for at least one of the victims. Travis Barker is said to be burned from the waist down, and it sounded like DJ AM, Adam Goldstein, was in worse shape as he suffered facial burns, and there was news that doctors had him in a medically-induced coma to do skin graft surgery.

E! Online quoted a source which said AM was “really, really badly burned,” that “his face is very burned,” and “More than 50 percent of his body is burned and the worst is on his face.”

Today there is more positive news about AM and Barker’s condition, with their doctor stating that both should have full recoveries despite the serious nature of their injuries:

Travis Barker and DJ AM suffered second and third degree burns from Friday’s jet crash that killed four people, Dr. Fred Mullins, Medical Director at Georgia’s Joseph Still Burn Center, announced at a press conference Sunday morning.

Barker has burns on his torso and lower body and Goldstein has burns on his arm and part of his head, Mullins said. (Mullins would not say the percentage of their bodies that were burned or whether they were conscious. He also did not go into detail about the type of treatment they are currently receiving.)

He said the two did not sustain any other injuries from the crash.

“I think these patients are going to make a full recovery,” Mullins said.

He added, “Anybody who can survive a plane crash is very lucky.”

During the conference, Mullins also read a statement from the families.

“The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern. Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them, their families and friends is requested at this time.”

[From US Weekly]

Our thoughts are with AM and Barker as they recuperate from this tragic accident. They are lucky to be alive and are likely to have a lot of surgeries and difficult rehabilitation ahead of them.

You can send well wishes to AM and Barker through the e-mail a patient form on their hospital’s website. They are likely to received tens of thousands of messages, but it can’t hurt.

Stephen Chow To Play Kato In ‘The Green Hornet’

Posted by admin  » Posted on 09|21|08

HONG KONG (AP) - Hong Kong comedian Stephen Chow will play Kato in the Columbia Pictures’ adaptation of “The Green Hornet,” taking on a role made famous by the late action star Bruce Lee’s portrayal in a 1966 TV series, the Hollywood studio said.

Chow will also direct the movie, which will be the “Kung Fu Hustle” director and star’s American debut, Columbia Pictures said in a statement.

Canadian actor Seth Rogen will star as The Green Hornet, a debonair newspaper publisher who moonlights as a masked crime-fighter along with his martial arts-expert sidekick, Kato.

Chow, whose other credits include “Shaolin Soccer” and “CJ7,” said in the statement that he’s excited to be following in Lee’s footsteps.

“The idea of stepping into Bruce Lee’s shoes as Kato is both humbling and thrilling, and to get the chance to direct the project as my American movie debut is simply a dream come true,” Chow said.

The characters debuted in a radio series in 1936 on WXYZ Detroit. They also starred in several comic books.

In 1966, The Green Hornet was turned into an ABC-TV series starring Van Williams as the title character and Bruce Lee as Kato. It ran for one season.

Lee’s role as Kato was part his brief foray into American TV before he made his name in Hong Kong with movies such as “The Big Boss” and “Fist of Fury.” Lee died in Hong Kong in 1973 at age 32 from swelling of the brain.

Chow has worked with Sony Pictures Entertainment, which runs Columbia Pictures, for several years.

Sony co-produced and released “Kung Fu Hustle” (2004) and also distributed his latest film, “CJ7,” earlier this year.

Columbia Pictures said its version of “The Green Hornet” will premiere on June 25, 2010.

Singer George Michael has been arrested in the past for having drugs in his car and for soliciting sex in a public bathroom, but he’d yet to be arrested for drugs in a public bathroom - until Friday. Michael, 45, was arrested in a public bathroom in Hampstead Heath, a popular London park area. It is thought that he was in possession of crack cocaine. He was let off with just a caution, or a warning, which seems to be typical of this type of minor drug case in England - if Pete Doherty’s storied record is anything to go by.

Michael has been unable to drive since May, 2007, when his license was revoked for two years for an October, 2006 incident in which he was found passed out in his car with marijuana. He was also busted passed out in his parked car with drugs in February, 2006, and at that time it was also pot and poppers, or amyl nitrite. If he was found with crack on Friday it looks like he’s got a more serious problem and has graduated to the hard stuff:

The singer George Michael has been cautioned after being arrested in a public toilet for possession of drugs, thought to include crack cocaine.

“A 45-year-old man was arrested on 19 September on suspicion of possession of drugs in the Hampstead Heath area,” a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

The singer was taken to a police station and given the caution for possessing class A and class C drugs.

Home Office Minister Tony McNulty said drug laws needed to be “flexible”.

Asked why Michael had been given a relatively mild punishment for the possession of class A drugs, Mr McNulty said he did not know the details of the case.

George Michael has been in trouble with police before

But he added that the law provides a wide range of punishments for possession of drugs, and “circumstances and context” had to be applied.

[From BBC via WeSmirch]

The BBC reminds us that Michael has been doing relatively well in the past year. He just finished his world tour in August, and has a multi-million dollar book deal with HarperCollins for his tell-all autobiography.

The guy has long had a penchant for public sex - he was busted by the News of The World in June, 2006 with a paunchy 58 year-old unemployed guy in a public park. Michael was first pushed out of the closet in 1998 after an infamous arrest for soliciting sex from an undercover cop in a Beverly Hills bathroom. There wasn’t any mention of Michael attempting to score in this latest incident and it’s possible he was only in the park to get drugs.

It seemed like Michael had his drug habit down to just smoking pot and getting wasted, but that he’d cleaned up after his arrests and comeback tour. Maybe he’ll go to rehab now so he can achieve sobriety during his semi-retirement.

Janet Jackson’s new hair makeover.

Posted by admin  » Posted on 09|21|08

janet jackson performed live after seven years in self imposed semi-retirement. She started her first leg of her tour in L.A.

Jackson gave an unusual performance when she chose a member of the audience to go up on stage and participate in a simulated, raunchy act.

Jackson had an unusual version of the tomahawk hairstyle. Her lush hair was pinned up at the sides of her head to make a Mohican sort of style. She sang songs from Discipline, her latest album which was released in Feb. LL Cool J, rapper and actor, did the opening number for Jackson. Queen Latifah and geri halliwell were among the audience.

As if the tragic plane crash wasn’t enough, that resulted in four people’s deaths… now new details have been revealed, about why they boarded the jet plane in the first place. TMZ has learned that “Lil Chris”, Chris Baker, wanted to make it in time for his baby’s birth. Chris Baker’s wife was in labor, and Travis Barker promised to get him back in time after their show, which is why they boarded the learjet. Read more after the bump.

This plane crash seems a cruel twist of fate. TMZ has reported that Travis Barker’s assistant, Chris Baker, wanted to get back home to his wife, who was about to give birth.

So Travis Barker, DJ AM, Chris Baker, and three others boarded the learjet, to get Chris Baker home in time for his child’s birth.

Yesterday, Chris Barker let the guys know that his wife had gone into labor. Travis Barker promised him he would do anything in his power to get Chris Baker to the hospital in time.

Of course the quickest way back to Van Nuys, CA was by plane. Travis Barker doesn’t usually fly on private plans, but made this exception for his friend and assistant, Chris Baker, to witness the birth of his baby.

The plane crashed shortly after midnight, killing four people, including Chris Baker. Chris Baker’s wife went into labor early this morning.

Our condolences to the friends and family of those that lost their lives in this tragic plane crash.
